Electric Foodservice Council Honors CookTek Induction Range

November 5, 2007

A six “burner” commercial induction range, has won the Electric Foodservice Council’s prestigious Efficiency Improvement Award.

CookTek previewed the range at the October 2007 NAFEM Show in Atlanta. The unit delivers a 20-30% reduction in direct utility costs, when compared to conventional gas or electric ranges. Additional savings in air conditioning and ventilation costs are achieved through elimination of almost all waste heat-gain to the kitchen. Hood airflow can be reduced by more than 50%.

Besides utility savings, speed and quality of food preparation is improved too, as each 3.5kw “burner” can be precisely set to a temperature, not just power level.

Moreover, pan reaction to a setting change is instantaneous – faster than gas.

Finally, CookTek’s unique radio frequency communications and temperature sensing technology called “SmarTag” enables semi-automatic, product-specific cooking and retherming.
